Marie-Louise "Hink" Mangold

The Kaiser Vallejo PNF Program and the IPNFA regretfully announce the passing of Marie-Louise "Hink" Mangold on February 10, 2014.  A graduate of the University of Southern California (USC), Hink became a physical therapist in 1970.

She attended the Kaiser Vallejo post-graduate PNF program where she learned the PNF concept from Maggie Knott, PT.  From 1979 to 1998, Hink served as the director of Kaiser's Postgraduate PNF Program where she instructed and inspired hundreds of physical therapists from around the globe.  In addition, Hink served as the first vice-president of the International Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Association (IPNFA). In the early 1990s, she invited Dr. Herman Kabat to return to Kaiser Vallejo, and surprised the participants of the 9th IPNFA Annual general meeting with his presence.  Prior to her retirement in 1998, Hink traveled the world to teach PNF, including a session at the 1990 WCPT in London. Selected as an honorary member of the IPNFA at her retirement, Hink’s contribution to her patients, her students and her colleagues at Kaiser Vallejo and the IPNFA will always be appreciated and remembered.
